Last week we worked on a residential water damage project, a residential interior patch and paint project, and a commercial wallcovering project. The wallcovering project brought the below information to mind.
We have been asked fairly often how well the walls need to be prepared prior to installing wallcovering.
The answer to this can vary a little bit depending on whether you are referring to residential or commercial wallpaper. However, all wallpaper will "telegraph" just about all wall imperfections. This means that those imperfections will show and sometimes be magnified depending on the thickness of the wallcovering. It is very important if you are ever installing wallpaper to make sure that you fix all of the imperfections in the wall first.
We hope this information helps you avoid any costly mistakes!
