Not only are there different types of paint brushes, there are also different sizes as well. Which size would work best for your job? Are you painting a wall? Painting trim? Painting doors? What is it that you’re painting? Choosing the right size can greatly impact the finished product and make the painting process more efficient.
The smaller, 1-2-inch brushes can work best for windows and small trim. Three-inch brushes may work best with doors or cabinets, like in your kitchen. They are a little bigger, so can cover more area at once, but they’re not too big. Four-inch brushes work best with larger surfaces but are harder to use in detailed areas. If you’re painting an entire wall, however, then it’s time to use a roller. That will allow you to get the job done much quicker and you will have a much better finished product. Last week started off our spring season for the year. We have been really busy, but do have some openings left where we could squeeze you in. If you would like the interior – of your house or commercial building – painted for the spring months, let us know! Why not save the hassle of choosing the right brush or roller, and hire a professional painter, with a guarantee that you will love the finished product! Thanks for checking in, Ryan Have you ever thought about painting your bathroom or bedroom? And then you go to the store and see all the different paint brushes - how are they different from each other? Which one would best suit the job? There are quite a few different types of paint brushes, all with unique characteristics.
Natural-bristle brushes tend to work best with oil-based paints. They naturally have splits at their tips, which allow for a smoother application of oil paints. Blended nylon/polyester brushes can typically be used with both oil and latex paints. These brushes are easy to clean and should last for several years. Polyester brushes usually are best suited for latex paints. They hold their shape and work well for an even latex paint application. Then, there are also different sizes and shapes depending on the project that you will be tackling. Generally, the smaller brushes are for more detailed areas and the angled ones allow for easier access to getting the corners. This past week has been extremely busy! That, along with the recent sunshine, has shown us that spring is finally here! When the sun is shining in through our windows, we tend to notice all the dings and scratches on our walls. If you would like the interior – of your house or commercial building – repainted for the sunny, spring months, let us know! Painting can be a lot of work to do on your own. Why not let a professional help you out? We have lately been working on a commercial drywall project in Seattle along with a residential drywall hanging/taping/texturing, interior/exterior painting, and trim painting project in Everett. Thanks for checking in, Ryan Did you know there are many different types of paint? Not only are there different colors, there are also different sheens that impact how your finished product looks. There are generally six options: flat, matte, satin, eggshell, semi-gloss, and gloss paint (the below descriptions can vary by manufacturer).
A flat sheen is one of the more common sheens for interior paint. It works quite well for covering up imperfections on walls. However, it will not clean up very well. Matte is similar to flat paint in that it will cover up imperfections very well. It will clean a little better and doesn’t need refinishing quite as often. Satin is easier to clean than flat or matte and it has a slightly higher sheen than either. The downside to satin is that it doesn’t hide imperfections in walls as well as flat or matte - it usually makes them more visible. Eggshell can be a great option for interior paint. It has a slightly higher sheen than satin, but will clean up very well. It is common to find eggshell paint in places like the kitchen, or rooms where you will need to wipe down walls often, like with children. Semi-gloss is the most common sheen for interior trim paint. It is very easy to clean with a fairly high sheen, although not quite as much as gloss paint. Gloss paint is not a common interior wall paint because the sheen is so high. Gloss paint will greatly exaggerate any wall imperfections. As we’re jumping into spring, we’re starting to get busier and busier! If you would like the interior – of your house or commercial building – repainted after the winter wear, let us know soon! March and April are starting to look full, but we do have a couple more openings to squeeze you in! Thanks for checking in, Ryan Have you ever wondered what exactly is in the product known as “drywall”? What exactly is being installed into your house or commercial building? Drywall is a very common material used in houses or commercial buildings for walls, ceilings, or other surfaces. It is mainly made from gypsum and cellulose. Gypsum is a rock that has been crushed into powder and is very fire-proof. Cellulose is extremely thick paper, holding the gypsum in place between the cellulose.
