Plastering your walls is a great way to add texture and variety within your walls. Because standard walls are typically made with drywall, plaster walls are one way to differentiate a certain wall in a room, certain room in a house, or your whole house from everyone else’s!

The Many Benefits of Plaster

Plaster walls or coatings have many benefits. For one, they are much more durable than drywall. Plaster is made through a series of steps that typically end up one and a quarter inch thick! This allows for great acoustics between rooms, better resistance to fire and water damage, and effective insulation. Not only that, but plaster is also pollution-free, with minimal dust spreading into the air!

Different Types of Plaster Finishes

There are several kinds of plaster, and it may be difficult to choose one perfect for your home. However, here are a few to get you started in your research. First off, you could try out the smooth faced finish. This finish is perfect for anyone who wants a clean appearance in their house but wants to enjoy the benefits plaster provides. Another option is a sand faced finish. This procedure results in a fine grain within the texture of your wall, which would be a great for the interior walls of your home that are lacking personality. Add a bright pop of paint to them, and you will have the perfect accent wall! Finally, if you are looking for something that will make your exterior a bit more distinguishable, you may want to consider a rough cast finish. This method takes the plaster and applies it using a large wooden float, allowing rough lines to form along the wall.

Recent Projects

Last week, we finished up a commercial interior drywall taping and painting job in Seattle.

Ensure Expertise

Unfortunately, plastering your home does come with a couple setbacks. For one, it is pricier than drywall, and another, it is no easy task. Relying on a professional to do the work is a great idea, as applying a nice coat of plaster is no easy DIY. Perfection comes with experience, and we are here to do the job for you! If you would like one, two, or all your walls plastered, contact someone you can trust – we would be honored to help!

Best Wishes,
Ryan
